Book Thursdays at Eight: A Romance Novel Review :

I think this is Debbie Macomber at her best! The four main characters were different from each other but were realistic women whom you would like to have as friends. Each one changed and grew as the book developed. The idea of each one's expressing her thoughts and recording events from her point of view by writing in a journal helps the reader to identify with each character. Combining that technique with using some third person narration helped move the story line along, and it all worked beautifully. This is the story of four women from diverse backgrounds and of different ages who meet in a class where they develop skills in journal writing, become friends and want to continue meeting on a regular basis. Consequently, Every Thursday at eight AM they meet for breakfast. Each woman's story is different, each is fascinating, and the reader will be rooting for each person as she faces her challenges just as the women in the book do for each other. It's a heartwarming book filled with love, joy, sorrow and romance. Another great read by Debbie Macomber!
Trigger warnings for Divorce, Domestic Violence and CancerEnjoyableEasy to follow stand-alone that cover the live and friendship of four separate women. Some DV, no editing errors or drag-you-down drama.Interesting storyline with descriptive writing that draws the reader into each scene and personality. Realistic procedures, actions and reactions. Believable characters with distinct personalities and lives. Thought-provoking and memorable dialogue.'Hey, if my mother wants to change me, then I should be granted the same privilege. If I’m a disappointment to her as a daughter, then she should know she’s not my picture of the ideal parent, either.'I may re-read this story and always look forward to works by this author.
